What is a reserve of the Biosphere ?

The reserves of biosphere's are representative areas of territories whose importance has been officially recognised by the United Nations, as much for the conservation as for the provision of practical knowledge that can contribute to a sustained development.

The objective of a reserve of biosphere is the reservation of the natural values by means of a management that is socially respectful, creative and sustainable. Ensuring that natural landscapes remain for future generations whilst (in the case of Lanzarote) co-existing with new developments and tourisum.
